The 20 baby boy and girl names that are linked to success and wealth – and it’s bad news for modern monikers
THERE are loads of things to consider when picking the perfect name for your little one.
From family traditions to current trends, it all comes into play.
But while many new parents are opting for unique and modern monikers, research suggests it’s the older, classic names that are more likely to lead to success.
This comes as Google searches for ‘names for success’ have increased by 275% in the past month, and gambling site Gamblizard have shared the top 20 for boys and girls.
They got to work analysing Forbes’ Real-Time Billionaires list to find the most common names amongst the wealthiest men and women.
So, would you pick any of these names in a bid to help your little one come out on top?
Topping off the boy’s name list is Michael, with a whopping 50 billionaires on the list having the name of an equivalent.
“Accounting for 1% of the world’s richest people, prominent Michaels include tech tycoon Michael Dell and media mogul Michael Bloomberg – who have each amassed fortunes in excess of $100bn,” the experts from Gamblizard explained.
Meanwhile, the second boy’s name destined for success is John, with a grand total of 46 billionaires having the name, the study revealed.
Andrew took third place on the list with 31 billionaires boasting the moniker, followed by David, Mark, Carl and George.
Jamie Wall, a casino analyst and personal finance strategist at Gamblizard said: “Research shows 48% of people believe luck and fate are key to success – so starting with a lucky name doesn’t sound like a bad idea.
“It may just be a coincidence, but don’t underestimate the power of belief.
“If a billionaire name inspires you to believe in your child’s potential and support their journey, that alone can make all the difference.”

Are Unique Baby Names Worth The Hassle?
YOU may think having a unique name helps you to stand out, but is it all it's cracked up to be?
Fabulous’ Deputy Editor Josie Griffiths reveals the turmoil she faced with her own name while growing up.
When I was a child, all I wanted was one of those personalised keyrings with my name on it.
But no joy, the closest I could find was Rosie, Joseph (not great for a little girl) and Joanne.
Josie is short for Josephine, which is a French name, and I managed to reach my 20s without ever meeting anyone who shared it.
When I try to introduce myself to people, I get all sorts of random things – like Tracey and Stacey – which can be pretty annoying.
Although I have come into contact with a couple of Josies over the last year – there seems to be a few of us around my age – it’s still a much rarer name than most of my friends have.
On the whole I don’t mind it, at least it’s not rude or crazily spelt.
And it means I can get away with ‘doing a Cheryl’ and just referring to myself as Josie.
I’m getting married this year and some friends are shocked that I’m changing my surname, as it’s not seen as very cool or feminist to do so these days, but I explain to them that I’m not that attached to Griffiths as I’d always just say ‘hi it’s Josie’ when ringing a mate up.
I think it’s nice to be unique and I’ll definitely try and replicate this when naming my own kids.
It’s the rude names you’ve got to watch out for, so after nine years as a lifestyle journalist I’ll definitely be avoiding those.
