Penny Lancaster pictured with rarely seen son, 19, at Royal Ascot but husband Rod Stewart is missing

PENNY Lancaster wowed in a floral dress as she stepped out with her 19-year-old son Alastair for the opening day of Royal Ascot on Tuesday.

The model and wife of music legend Sir Rod Stewart brought her son as her date to the Berkshire event.

Penny oozed elegance in a plunging vintage Dolce & Gabbana dress paired with a chic Annabel Fenley percher hat.

She completed the look with gold heels and carried a stylish £1,100 Loewe Bee basket bag.

Her son Alastair looked dapper in traditional race day attire, donning a classic morning suit and a grey top hat.

The outing marked a rare public appearance for Alastair as the duo enjoyed the VIP treatment at Royal Ascot — the crown jewel of Britain’s racing calendar.

The event will run through Saturday and King Charles and Queen Camilla are expected to appear in the ceremonial carriage procession, a beloved tradition at Ascot.

The glamorous appearance comes just weeks after Sir Rod Stewart, 80, and Penny turned heads at the London premiere of Mission: Impossible – The Final Reckoning on May 23.

Days later Sir Rod was forced to cancel yet another of his Las Vegas shows.

The rocker, 80, was due to play in Las Vegas, Nevada, at The Colosseum at Caesars Palace on Jun3 5, but has pulled out just days after cancelling another of his gigs.

Struck down with the flu, Sir Rod expressed his sadness for not being able to perform.

He took to Instagram to share the news with fans, who were sad to hear he was not feeling up to performing after doctors advised him against it.

“I’m awfully sorry to have to cancel my show June 5th at The Colosseum at Caesars Palace,” he explained.

“My doctor ordered a bit more rest while I recover from the flu.

“Thanks for your love and understanding. Rod.”

Sir Rod has performance and gig dates lined up all over the world this year.

Later this month he is due to take on the Legends slot at Glastonbury.

He recently revealed he fears he will die if he gives up touring.

He said: “I enjoy going out on tour now more than I’ve ever done at this ripe old age of 80.

“I’m doing seven concerts in Vegas and then I am everywhere around the world.

“I’m playing Athens, Germany, three nights in Buenos Aires, two nights in Rio, it goes on and on and on.

“It keeps me fit. You have got to be fit to do it.

“I would probably die if I didn’t do it. I have seen so many guys that have to give up their career and retire and they have got nothing to wake up in the morning for.

“I don’t know what they do with themselves.

“They must get up and go ‘What do I do today? Down the betting shop? Have a drink?’ I don’t know.”
