A MUM who lost four stone in four months has revealed exactly how she did it – and it’s got nothing to do with fat jabs.
Abbie Lodge, 34, weighed 14st 7lbs at her heaviest, after turning to unhealthy eating habits following the births of her two children.
Crisps, sugary drinks and a £200 a month takeaway habit were among her biggest indulgences, and saw her go up to a UK size 14.
“I was in a constant cycle of ‘trying to be good’ then the smallest thing would happen and I’d spiral out of control,” the weight loss coach, from Essex, told What’s The Jam.
“I numbed myself with food much like an alcoholic or drug addict would numb (themselves) with their substance of choice.
“I used to drink three to four litres of full-fat cherry Coke per day, live on crisps and chocolate and eat takeaways.”
But it was after watching herself in a family holiday video, and a talking to from her doctors, that prompted her to make a drastic change.
And she didn’t go down the route that so many people have taken in recent months, by relying on a GLP-1 injection like Mounjaro or Wegovy.
Instead, Abbie, who was pre-diabetic, joined the 1:1 Diet by Cambridge Weight Plan in October 2021.
Adopting the meal replacement programme, and focusing on structured eating, healthy eating and exercise, she quickly saw a difference.
But it was when she swapped out the cherry Coke for water – drinking three to four litres of it per day – that the weight really started coming off.
And Abbie is now 10st 7lbs, wearing a UK dress size 10.
“My secret solution to long-term weight loss and maintenance is drinking water,” she said.
“I now drink three to four litres per day and live a normal, balanced, healthy lifestyle.
“Nothing is off-limits – I’ve learnt the balance.”
And Abbie added that as well as her diet and exercise overhaul improving her physical health, it’s had a massive change on her mental health too.

BEFORE:
Breakfast: Nothing, or crisps and chocolate

AFTER:
Breakfast: Omelette or protein yoghurt
Lunch: Balanced, protein-packed meals
Dinner: Family dinner – whatever she cooks for the household
Drinks: 3-4 litres of water per day

“Although there have been big physical changes, the biggest change has been the mental load becoming lighter,” she smiled.
“I am no longer ruled by food.
“And I am no longer a prisoner to food.”
