M25 chaos near Heathrow Airport after horror crash as drivers hit by NINE miles of traffic and 90-minute delays
A MAJOR motorway has been closed following a crash and resultant car fire – causing a travel headache for motorists driving to Heathrow Airport.
Lanes 3 and 4 on the M25 between junctions 16 and 17 are shut, with delays of 90 minutes stretching back NINE in place.
Highway cameras show white smoke billowing across the lanes after a vehicle set on fire following a crash.
National Highways has warned: “If travelling to Heathrow this morning please allow extra journey time.”
It comes days after the same route was shut following another serious crash, cutting off access to the airport for several hours.
Junction 14 A3113 Airport Way was closed last Wednesday (October 1) during the morning rush and didn’t open until midday.
It came on the same day as a huge blaze erupted at Heathrow, sparking further travel chaos for passengers.
Footage showed the fire burning in the terminal 3 multi-storey car park – which was evacuated and closed.
